I love lists. I particularly love lists full of tips… especially a list full of tips for your first triathlon! So when I stumbled upon Jennifer Rice’s blog and her post: 10 Guidelines For A Successful First Triathlon, I just had to share it with you. To read those tips, click the link.
The name of her new triathlon blog, Today Is Not That Day, is based off of this quote:
That is such a great reminder to be thankful for the bodies that we have, even though we might wish we were thinner, faster, stronger, taller, or whatever. It also remains us to remain mindful and grateful for the fact that we can do triathlons, and marathons, and challenge our bodies in incredible ways.
As you train for your first triathlon, you may not always feel like challenging your body is so incredible. You may feel sore, tired, unmotivated, or just plain over it. We’ve all been there. You’re not alone. Davey and I want to encourage you to embrace both the highs and lows of this journey. Listen to your body and take a few days off if you need to. Make a list of what you’re thankful for (I love those kind of lists too!) and focus on how far you’ve come–you’re one step closer to reaching your goals!
So the next time you need some motivation to get your workout in, remember that someday you won’t be able to do this, so why not get out there and prove that Today Is Not That Day!
