Augusta 70.3 was freaking AWESOME! We’re working on the official race report, but first… here are some #selfies, because I’m sure you’re all dying to see some awkward “self photography”, right? Good, I knew you were!
We probably should’ve packed Thursday night like good, organized triathletes, but we waitied till the last minute. I should really focus and get back to my checklist… but first, let me take a #selfie…
On Thursday, our jeep battery died and we had to buy a new one. I’m SO thankful it didn’t die on race morning… that would’ve been the WORST! But now my bike isn’t shifting properly… but before I start to panic, let me take a #selfie…
We are finally packed and ready to hit the road… just 4 hours past when we wanted to leave. Oh well… there’s always time for a #selfie. Augusta or bust!
We stopped in Atlanta on Friday to break up our drive. We went straight to our favorite restaurant and carbo loading commenced. Bread, get in my belly… but first, #selfie.
Saturday morning and we’re finally headed to Augusta! We’re running on Dunkin, but on Sunday we’ll run on heart as we swim, bike and run 70.3 miles. Coffee deserves a #selfie.
I know it looks like 10.3, but it’s 70.3. Had to stop a take a #selfie on our way to pick up our packets!
We have to go sign our waivers in case we die, and then go pick up our numbers, but first… let me take a #selfie.
Welp, we went down to the river and it’s cold! We’re not wearing wetsuits, so before we freeze our buns off, let me take a #selfie.
Pumping up our tires so that we can check our bikes into transition. But first… #selfie. (Well, Davey pumps up the tires… I obviously just take #selfies).
Um… everyone in my rack has really nice triathlon bikes. I mean REALLY nice. And they all have with aero bars. And then there’s me. So before I freak out, let me take a #selfie.
We might not win our races, but we definitely win at carbo-loading. Giuseppe’s Pizza was the BOMB. But before we stuff our faces… let me take a #selfie.
Oh, you know, getting body marked. But before they come after me with that Sharpie, let me take a super dark and grainy #selfie.
Setting up my transition area in the dark was a challenge and it took longer than I thought. Now, they’re about to close the transition area, but first… #yellowselfie.
We got shuttled from transition to the swim start on big yellow school buses. It was pretty awesome. We’re about to go and wait 1 1/2 hours till our swim wave starts, so there is definitely time for a #selfie.
We’re about to go jump in the Savannah River and swim 1.2 miles, then bike 56 miles and then top it off by running 13.1 NBD… but first, before we wonder what the heck we got ourselves into, let’s take a #selfie.
Cell phones were not allowed on the race course, so we go right from the #swimselfie to the #finishselfie. We did it! Davey’s time: 5:25, Jess’s time: 6:46. Such an awesome race and an incredible experience!
On our way to Whole Foods, but first, let me take a #selfie of myself wearing every Finisher item I own.
If you made it to the end of this post, then you deserve a medal because by now, you’re probably really sick of selfies. Don’t worry, this post is over.
Stay tuned for our Augusta 70.3 race report!
