So, here we are. It’s mid-November and before we know it, we’ll be setting New Year’s resolutions and making shiny new goals for 2015. Sometimes I feel bad for the last two months of the year because by November, I’ve already reached my goals, lost interest in them, or decided to forgo them in exchange for a more exciting new future goal.
When we got home from our anniversary trip to Italy last week, I went for a run—my first run in 4 weeks. Imagine my surprise when I realized that all that carbo-loading I did on our trip didn’t help my running. At all. Crap.
I drove home feeling discouraged and overwhelmed at the long road in front of me. I felt like I was starting from scratch and instead of maintaining my fitness level like a good triathlete, I blew it on pizza and pasta and gelato.
But I have no regrets. It was totally worth it. My lack of fitness right now just means that I have to work harder to build it back up, and to do that, I might need some help.
Let’s switch gears. (triathlon pun intended)
Do you know who Jesse Thomas is?
Jesse Thomas is a super rad pro triathlete who wears aviator sunglasses and writes my favorite column in Triathlete Magazine. He has super cool hair, his articles are funny, his Tweets are entertaining and he swims, bikes and runs really fast.
Jesse Thomas is married to Lauren Fleshman.
Lauren Fleshman is a professional runner. Her 5k record is 14:58. FOURTHEEN FIFTY-EIGHT. She is fast. She is awesome. She keeps it real, she’s funny, she created an awesome energy bar and I’m a HUGE fan.
So, by now you may be wondering, isn’t this post a giveaway? So far, all you’ve done is talk about how lazy you’ve been, how cool Jesse Thomas is, and how you have a girl-crush on Lauren Fleshman.
Ok, Ok. Let’s tie it all together.
I want to start building my triathlon base back up + I need some motivation and encouragement to help me set and reach my new goals + I might get hungry along the way = The Believe Training Journal and Picky Bars!
Lauren and her pro runner friend, Ro, created the coolest training journal ever. There’s tips, workouts, color photos, inspirational quotes, places to record your training data, pro advice, mental tips, race day suggestions and more!
I feel like I’m going to crush my goals just by holding it in my hand! But we all know that to show your goals who’s boss, you have to work hard to reach them. And when you work hard, you get hungry. Lucky for you, we’re also giving away a 6-pack of Picky Bars.
Picky Bars are all-natural, dairy-free, gluten free bars of awesomeness. And not only are Picky Bars delicious, but they have the coolest names: Need for Seed, Blueberry Boomdizzle, Lauren’s Mega Nuts, All-In Almond, Smooth Caffeinator and Cookie Doughpness.
